What do you belive?

Our Church is Thelemic and Apostolic. We accept the Law of Thelema as conveyed by Aleister Crowley in 1904, particularly through the Holy Book known as The Book of the Law or Liber AL vel Legis.

 We affirm Aleister Crowley’s place as the Prophet of the New Aeon in his office as “To Mega Therion 666.”

We do not believe in sin or redemption as such terms are commonly used. To us, “sin” is anything that diverts you from your True Will (your purpose in life and your reason for being). Each person must find and decide for themselves what that is, we cannot, nor do we wish to do it for you. We expect that you will stand on your own as an equal, as one among many, in a community or outside it. We are here to strengthen and encourage one another in fellowship and celebration of the Sacraments.

Why Thelemic?

The world functions through mythology. This is especially true of religion. Mythology does not imply falsehood. Rather, myth speaks to us in a way that other paradigms do not. This being the case, we have adopted the Thelemic mythic paradigm based on an understanding of the principles that govern our planet in the current era.

We encourage the exploration of myth in all its forms. To that end, some of our Temples put emphasis on other mythological frameworks (Germanic or Celtic for instance) but our liturgical rite and theological axis is centered on a Thelemic structure, rooted in 19^th century Egyptology and creative interpretation of archetypes.

We approach the aim of religion through the method of science. As the Apostle Paul states, “Test everything, keep the good.”

We encourage individuals to seek their own path. We offer community for those whose paths may converge with ours.

What is Thelema?

Thelema is the Greek word for Will. It enumerates to 93 via the Qabalistic art of Gematria, as does its counterpart Agape, the Greek word for Divine Love. The Law of Thelema is stated thusly:
 
 “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law” and is explained further by its counterpart “Love is the law, love under will.”

Some Thelemites greet each other and say farewell using these phrases, or very often, shorten them in conversation to simply saying “93.”

Why Catholic?

Catholic in its original sense, means Universal. When we affirm one Gnostic and Catholic Church, we affirm that we represent one part of a universal spiritual body.

Our Priests and Bishops hold apostolic lines of succession from the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches among many others, including claims to lines of descent from the ancient Egyptian priesthoods which sought shelter in the practices of theurgy after the fall of the ancient temples.

What is the Eucharist?

The Eucharist is the container whereby the influence of the Supernals (God in the Highest conception and beyond) manifests or incarnates into material form. Following ancient tradition, our Priests invoke the Godhead, incarnate God in the elements (the host and wine), and then we as congregants consume the incarnated God, taking It into ourselves and affirming our own Divine Natures. All that is said about the Eucharist in the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Rites are true, we assert only a different point of view as to the specific metaphysical implications.
